He laid bricks…

In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Time Capsule.”

There are a significant times in the life when you feel the favor of God. Sometimes we have to search high and low in hope that the day will come.  Other times surprisingly favor falls right into your lap. These are the times in life when you wish favor could be bottled in a time capsule safe for eternity. The transitions in life are awesome. Your first job, new boss, relationships, friendships, college, graduation, marriage your first kick in the teeth or betrayal. These transitions are what makes life complete. These challenges are the most stressful yet make the best memories.

FullSizeRender (9)It is these memories that become the mortar, the foundation of our experiences and knowledge which defines life’s meaning.

My memories of this week will be with me a very longtime. Watching friends at work struggle through transitions, Diane struggling with her feelings of our son becoming a man and my families struggle with health all seem to make my point. In order to get to the other side from bad to good, we have to believe in what is possible.

Today our son pushed through to the other side of life.  He received notice of his acceptance to the University where he will study his passion, computer science. While I had no doubt in this fine young man, we do not always get to choose our journey.

Today he laid his first bricks, the mortar, the foundation on his quest for knowledge.

Today, like most days of fatherhood, I am excited to watch our fine young man begin his journey. He is amazing and about to have an awesome adventure because of who he has become.

A smart, funny, talented, and hard-working guy, we are proud to call our son.

Godspeed

I am second. I will share my experiences, as a child of God, husband to Daniel, father, best friend, brother, son, leader, professor, writer and photographer. My intention for this blog is to be random, with no plan, no list, no direction and no expectations. Very different from how I lived my past life. My journey has been blessed by the mercy and grace of God and unwavering love. I hope you enjoy reading and sharing my experiences of hurts, laughter, discovery, friendships, Christ, and my family. Temenos is a safe circle where you can be yourself with peace of mind. Temenos originates from a Greek word which refers to a universal instinct to create a protected, safe space in which to heal, restore and regenerate yourself. My temenos circle is a place to be still and seek Jesus. It becomes my place to pray, reflect in the word of our Lord to shrink, grow in him, and heal my soul. What is your temenos circle? 1. You know John, sometimes I just skip reading some of the blogs that come my way, but this one was a happy reminder of love, of hopes, of time passing. Bless you and your family as you transition once again.
