I Object!

The events of the day made me feel very thankful. It is our experiences in life that bring us the most meaning. Life can be a struggle even feel like you are suffering sometimes. It feels like you will never make traction on achieving your goals. It can even feel like the world is working against your cause at times.

Whether your struggle is finding a job, getting a better grade on your test, resolving conflict in your relationships or achieving an important goal, it can feel like you are pushing an elephant up a step.  Have you ever worked so hard that it feels like your fighting an uphill battle that everyone keeps blocking? It can push you so far that you begin to give up.

My wife, a sales executive, always says to me, “John, the sale doesn’t begin until the first objection is cast mister?” When she said this to me, its hard to apply it to my situation at first.

I imagine that anyone reading this blog post can relate to situations just like the ones described above. Right?

Here is what I have learned today.

It is important to never give up keeping your eye on your end goal. It is always important to remember that people generally always want to do the right things even when it appears on the surface to be untrue. You might have to challenge those involved to think deeper but listening, loving and learning are the most important strategy.

1 Corinthians 10:31 says, “Whatever you do, do all to the Glory of God.”

Today this scripture has become very clear to me. I have been honored with a leadership award and plan approval to build health clinic my team has been working on the entire year.

This is a day to be thankful, feeling honored but doing so humbly, giving our glory to the work of our God.

Yes?

I am second. I will share my experiences, as a child of God, husband to Daniel, father, best friend, brother, son, leader, professor, writer and photographer. My intention for this blog is to be random, with no plan, no list, no direction and no expectations. Very different from how I lived my past life. My journey has been blessed by the mercy and grace of God and unwavering love. I hope you enjoy reading and sharing my experiences of hurts, laughter, discovery, friendships, Christ, and my family. Temenos is a safe circle where you can be yourself with peace of mind. Temenos originates from a Greek word which refers to a universal instinct to create a protected, safe space in which to heal, restore and regenerate yourself. My temenos circle is a place to be still and seek Jesus. It becomes my place to pray, reflect in the word of our Lord to shrink, grow in him, and heal my soul. What is your temenos circle?
