Reaching out for you…

7- Day Music Challenge…. Day number 2.

Lay me down by Sam Smith

Lyrics

Yes I do, I believe

That one day I will be, where I was
Right there, right next to you
And it’s hard, the days just seem so dark
The moon, and the stars, are nothing without you
Your touch, your skin, where do I begin?
No words can explain, the way I’m missing you
The night, this emptiness, this hole that I’m inside
These tears, they tell their own story

You told me not to cry when you were gone
But the feeling’s overwhelming, it’s much too strong
Can I lay by your side, next to you, you
And make sure you’re alright
I’ll take care of you
And I don’t want to be here if I can’t be with you tonight

I’m reaching out to you
Can you hear my call? (Who’s to say you won’t hear me?)
This hurt that I’ve been through
I’m missing you, missing you like crazy

You told me not to cry when you were gone
But the feeling’s overwhelming, it’s much too strong
Can I lay by your side, next to you, you
And make sure you’re alright
I’ll take care of you
And I don’t wanna be here if I can’t be with you tonight

Interpretation

This song is reminiscent of a couple who has grown apart while living together under one roof. Life becomes so intense rushing through time without being in the moment in a relationship. A couple going through the motions but never really being together, living separate lives.

In Sam Smiths controversial video interview in Rolling Stones, he speaks of the desire of gay couples ability to marry in the church. It was Sam Smiths hope that one-day gay men, women transgender individuals would be able to marry under the same roof as heterosexual men and women.

However, this music speaks to your heart, being intentional with those you love is the larger point. Whether that love is with a human or God, being in the moment, keeping them by your side, and intentionally being is what matters.

I am second. I will share my experiences, as a child of God, husband to Daniel, father, best friend, brother, son, leader, professor, writer and photographer. My intention for this blog is to be random, with no plan, no list, no direction and no expectations. Very different from how I lived my past life. My journey has been blessed by the mercy and grace of God and unwavering love. I hope you enjoy reading and sharing my experiences of hurts, laughter, discovery, friendships, Christ, and my family. Temenos is a safe circle where you can be yourself with peace of mind. Temenos originates from a Greek word which refers to a universal instinct to create a protected, safe space in which to heal, restore and regenerate yourself. My temenos circle is a place to be still and seek Jesus. It becomes my place to pray, reflect in the word of our Lord to shrink, grow in him, and heal my soul. What is your temenos circle?
